Pacific Beach 2024
Oct 9th – 14th in Pacific Beach, WA
*** Talk-in and event frequency 146.54 ***
Join us for our 5th Ham Radio Adventures – Pacific Beach get
together. Each year this event has grown and been a great
success.
This will be a fun filled week to meet fellow nerds with an
affinity for RF. If you are interested in getting your ham license, come
on down and test. If you’re interested in getting out of the shack to
play radio, teach, learn, or just a romantic walk on the beach with your
Baofeng, this is the event you are looking for. Have a crazy idea for an
antenna and need extra brain power and hands to pull it off? This is the
place to do so. This will be a great opportunity to bring your go kit/bag
and show off your equipment and see what other hams are using as well.
We have a few fun activities planned such as:
Parks on the Air – Rove to 10 different parks in the area.
Satellites – A hands-on instruction on how to work amateur satellites, make your first contact!
Meshtatic – A crash course in what Meshtastic is and how to setup and use. Bring your own device. This one is recommended. www.amzn.com/B09LV653X8
Janky Antenna Challenge – Teams will be assigned to create the most ridiculous antenna and then perform a WSPR distance challenge.
Gear Demo – Show your gear and talk about the pros and cons
GIS – A beginner’s tutorial the Geographic Information System and applications in ham radio
Small kit building – Build a directional loop antenna and offset attenuator for fox hunting ($16) or build a linked dipole ($35). Kits available for purchase at event.
Fox hunt – Hunting for beginners and advanced. Bring your hunting gear. Parts to build a tape measure yagi will be available.
VE session – Get your license or upgrade (Tech – Extra).
Prime rib night – Join us at the Green Lantern for Prime Rib night.
Pizza night – Build your own personal pizza and hang out
The rest of the time will be for hanging out going out and activating Parks On The Air, Summits on the Air, or enjoying the coastal Pacific Beach area.
